Medjugorje - The Message of the Gospa

Millions of people throughout the world believe that, since 25 June 1981, the Blessed Virgin Mary (called "The Gospa" in the Croatian language) has been appearing to six young inhabitants of Medjugorje, a village in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

On her second appearance, she revealed herself to the children as being the Mother of God, the Queen of Peace.

All six children initially saw Our Lady daily. Three of them still meet with her every day; the others see her less often, at specific times during the year. Yet, all continue to bring a specific and urgent message from Our Lady to mankind.

'I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life and, to obtain this fullness and to obtain peace, you must return to God.'

The Gospa says that the world is in a state of crisis and that 'Mankind must be reconciled with God, and one another.' The messages are meant for the entire world and, as at Fatima in 1917, she restates the conditions for peace and gives us her plan:

She asks us to return to God through individual conversion of the heart and she invites us to attend Holy Mass, to read Holy Scripture, to pray with the heart, to say the Rosary, to make monthly confession and also to fast.

The Gospa, Our Lady Queen of Peace, tells us that peace begins in our own hearts:

'Today, as never before, I call upon you to pray for peace; peace in your hearts, peace in your families and peace in the whole world.'
